This pale white had inviting aromas of lime and melon. It was initially zingy in the mouth with high acidity and lime citrus and grapefruit flavours. This was followed by a good finish of melon. This is a great wine to have in the fridge in preparation for when the sun comes out.
I had this wine with Scallops in butter and chilli, by +Azlin Bloor on Google Plus. The wine was presented, by me, at the live +foodies+ cooking show on Google Plus called ‘Hangouts on air’. The lime in the wine matched the lime in the dressing on the scallops and the high acidity cut through the fat of the butter. The melon finish went well with the slight chilli heat.
This wine comes from the Barkan, Israel’s 2nd largest winery , located at Hulda kibbutz in the Judean plain. The wine has been specifically created for Marks and Spencer and is the collaboration of the M&S winemaker Jeneve Williams and Barkans winemaker Ed Salzburg. Ed, from the USA previously worked at wineries in California and New York Finger Lake district.
